What are the relaxations allowed to special children/ differently abled persons during examinations?

Following relaxations are allowed to special children / differently abled persons during examinations.

  • Provision of an Amanuensis (writer).
  • Maximum one hour additional to visually impaired or differently abled persons or spastic candidates.
  • Relaxations for candidates suffering from sudden illness/accident.
  • Separate sitting arrangement.
  • Disability-wise relaxations to candidates with locomotor /orthopaedic disability, visually and hearing impaired.
  • Multiple disability/Cerebral Palsy, Mentally Retarded and Leprosy cured.

Is there an age limit for NIOS admissions?

Students must be 14 years or older for Std. X and 15 years or older for Std. XII. There is no upper age limit, making it suitable for learners of all ages.

When do NIOS admissions open?

NIOS has two admission cycles every year:

  • April to September (for March/April exams)
  • October to March (for October/November exams)

How long is the NIOS admission valid?

Once enrolled, a student’s admission remains valid for five years, allowing multiple attempts to complete the course comfortably.

How many subjects does a student need to study?

Students typically choose five subjects. There is also an option to take additional subjects, as per NIOS guidelines.

Can subjects be changed after admission?

Yes. Subject changes are allowed within the validity period, following NIOS norms, giving students flexibility as their interests or needs evolve.
